Can receiving flowers affect your mood? Studies say yes!

According to research made by Rutgers State University of New Jersey, flowers can improve your emotional health and well being. The lead researcher and Professor of Psychology of Rutgers, Jeannette Haviland-Jones, Ph.D. states, "What's most exciting about this study is that it challenges established scientific results about how people can manage their day to day moods in a healthy and natural way."

And that's not all! Receiving flowers has been proved to have positive effects on mood, some of them even long term; such as feeling less depressed or anxious.

Other benefits of flowers are: (applies to all age groups and genders in a study taken over a 10 month period)
~They trigger happy emotions! Getting flowers gave people a feeling of satisfaction and resulted in a "real" or excited smile. They also expressed delight and thanks.
~Receiving flowers has shown to help with intimate bonds -- leading to increased contact with family and friends. Most people even placed the gift in areas of their home that are well noticed.

"Flowers bring about positive emotional feelings in those who enter a room. They make the space more welcoming and create a sharing atmosphere," says Dr. Haviland.

Sounds like a good reason to give that special someone a beautiful uplifting bouquet and experience to me!

I can personally attest on how much flowers can uplift my mood. I dunno, what it is about them, but everytime I see and receive roses they give me a certain calmness and happiness..
